New URL Structure for Communities and Users

If you've been following RebelMouse for any length of time, you know that we've gone all in on the power of influencers and creators. This, in turn, has driven us to expand and enhance our community-building platform at an incredible rate. Since our network has grown several fold with no signs of slowing down, it's now time to change how our technology handles user and community URLs to prevent any confusion in the future, especially for clients of ours that employ multiple communities.

Previously, user profile URLs would follow the path: ".../[community]/[username]." Moving forward, the URL path will separate communities from users. Here's what the new formats look like:

Community URL: http://btsdaily.rebelmouse.com/c/japan

User URL: http://btsdaily.rebelmouse.com/u/anaanimedaily

All previous URLs will redirect automatically to the new format. For example, https://fluidity.love/community/bulgaria will successfully r to https://fluidity.love/c/bulgaria, and https://fluidity.love/community/anasantopinto will successfully redirect to https://fluidity.love/u/anasantopinto.

If you have any questions about this new URL logic, contact your account manager today.

New! Update to 404 URL Tracking on RebelMouse

A 404 appears when your site isn't communicating properly with a server and an error page is delivered to your reader. Recently, RebelMouse deployed an update to better address how we track 404 pages on sites we power.

Previously, Google Analytics tracked 404 pages as if they were normal posts. This is because even if an article was deleted, the URL was still visible. For example, if your deleted post title was "Anne lives in Texas," Google would still crawl that headline.
